Literature Text

Ascending towards the endless sky
Without questioning the reason why;
We wish to reach the very top,
Though nothing awaits us when we stop.

Twisted by ambition and greed,
Our supple wills bear hatred's seed,
And when at last it flowers,
We come upon our darkest hours…

War and pestilence everywhere;
Blood stains an innocent's hair.
Peace and love perish in the fires
Fueled by our species' selfish desires.

No matter how much we try to erase
The sins that etched sorrow into our fate,
Despair has become our destiny,
Bringing only intolerance - and subsequent agony…

If there is mercy left in this world,
It must be in the hands of the divine
For mankind is too arrogant
To realize that their hunger
Has been their undoing…
A poem inspired by the harsh words of Shinseiki by Len Kagamine...about the sad state of mankind.

This is a really powerful piece, one that commands you to think through and makes you feel somewhat guilty as a part of humanity, the race with the most rage and ignorance of them all.
Usually I give at least one criticism , but I'm struggling; the wording is excellent, the technique is good, it made quite an impact and there are far less anti war poems on here than I'd imagine, so even often elusive points for originality are scored.
The wording is elegant but sharp,and the repeated use of ellipsis leaves a sense of longing and sadness in with the passion.
I have read many excellent poems, but this takes the proverbial!
